Dachstein Glacier – UNESCO World Cultural Heritage Site 2,700 metres of

freedom!

The Dachstein is one of the most visited destinations in Styria. And no wonder - it’s the first Alpine glacier you encounter coming from the east. Even the approach on the Dachstein Glacier Lift is an experience: you rise 1,000 metres in altitude and pass a mere hair’s breadth from steep rock faces.

On the Dachstein at 2,700 metres above sea level, you can view a fantastic panorama of hundreds of mountain summits.

Panorama gondola

Travelling up the mountain is a completely unique experience in the gondola lift with a roof-top balcony and built entirely from glass.

Suspension bridge and “stairway to nothingness “

The 100 metres-long suspension bridge alongside the south wall of the Dachstein glacier offers a spectacular view of Austria´s Alpine peaks extending. Austria´s highest suspension bridge is directly linked to the Dachstein Ice Palace.

Dachstein Ice Palace

The Dachstein Ice Palace is a seductive and mystical world of ice and snow deep inside the Dachstein glacier. Be enchanted six meters under the eternal ice by the children's fairy-tale "The Treasure in the Dachstein Ice Palace".

Sky Walk

Thrilling - but safe! Under your feet: the Hunerkogel rock face dropping away 250 metres straight down. All around you: an unrivalled mountain panorama.

Adventure Sports

You can get all those adrenaline "kicks", big or small, as you participate in a wide variety of adventure sports during your holidays in the Schladming-Dachstein region. For everyone who wants to experience even more, the Stoderzinken zipline – the longest in the Alps – is an absolute must. Suspended from 4 parallel steel cables, you will race for 2.5 km at speeds as much as 115 km/h, as high as 120 meters above the ground.
